　白剛玉是以氧化鋁為原料，經高溫熔煉而成。呈白色，硬度比棕剛玉略高，韌性稍低。用其制造的磨具適用於高碳鋼、高速鋼和淬火鋼等的磨削。可作研磨拋光材料，還可作精密鑄造型砂、噴涂材料、化工觸媒載體、特種陶瓷、耐火材料等。

呈白色，較棕剛玉硬而脆，切削力較強。化學穩定性好，具有很好的絕緣性。顯微硬度2200-2300kg/mm2。

　　可做固結磨具及涂附磨具，濕式或幹式噴射砂，超精研磨及制作耐火材料等。適合加工淬火鋼、合金鋼、高速鋼、高碳鋼等硬度較強、抗張強度較大的材料。也適應壓電晶體、半導體、單晶硅、多晶硅的研磨拋光，還可用作觸媒體、絕緣體、特種陶瓷以及耐火材料等。棕剛玉是以鋁礬土為主要原料，經高溫溶煉而成。呈棕褐色、硬度高、韌性大。用其制造的磨具，適用於碳素鋼、可鍛鑄鐵、硬青銅等的磨削。此外在耐火材料、化工添加劑、精密鑄造及防滑材料等方面也有廣泛應用。
